Our farmers tell us that the deer in the area will bypass GMO corn fields in the area and travel great distances to get to this GMO-Tested popcorn. Our family farmers save their own seed which is replanted each year. This heirloom popcorn is hand picked and shelled on small family farms in western Wisconsin. GMO-Tested Popcorn Grown on Small Family farms Practicing Traditional Farming Skills
Our GMO-Tested heirloom popcorn is not grown in mono-crop fields. If you have ever driven through the Midwest section of the US, you have probably seen the rows and rows of nothing but corn. This heirloom popcorn is grown on bio-diverse farms that include other crops, along with farm animals that graze the fields, or pastured chickens that provide our soy-free eggs.
Since this is an heirloom open-pollinated popcorn, some popcorn is saved during each harvest as seed stock for next year’s planting. The farmers also practice traditional agriculture and no chemical pesticides or fertilizers are used on their fields. The area where this heirloom popcorn is grown is known as the “driftless” area of Wisconsin. It is called the “driftless” area because glaciers drifted around this area during the glacial period.
As a result, this is a unique area consisting of rolling hills and valleys that the early settlers of Wisconsin recognized as having rich soil for grass and crops. The long harsh winters allow for the natural death of organic plant life that returns nutrient rich organic matter to the soil each year. This is the same area where our pastured chickens and turkeys, grass-fed beef, and grass-fed lamb, originates from. We doubt that you will find a finer popcorn anywhere!

Special Packaging
When Healthy Traditions began to look at producing products in the U.S. from traditional sources, food that tested clean from GMOs, glyphosate, and other herbicides and pesticides, we were faced with a dilemma:
How do we package these high quality clean foods?
We began a search for packaging that did not contain harmful chemicals and was not harmful to the environment. What good is sourcing and selling high quality traditional food if it is going to be contaminated by the packaging?
The brown bags you see in our newest products, including our popcorn, reflect what we found was currently the best option for packaging our high-quality line of traditional products.
These bags harmlessly decompose anywhere that microbes are present (salt and fresh water, soil, landfills or in a backyard compost).
They decompose into organic matter without leaving any pollutants behind. (Independent Lab tests show – “None Detected.”)
They have been lab tested for possible leaching of many heavy metals and pollutants, and none were found.
